Ikorodu City product, Emmanuel Uchenna has completed a high-profile move to Czech Republic giants, Sparta Prague ahead of the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old talent made his first move to Czech Republic when he signed for Banik Ostrava from Ikorodu City. He trained with Banik Ostrava B and completed loan moves to Vitkovice and FC Hlučín before making his debut for the first team against Jablonec, helping the team to keep a clean sheet.

He then scored his first goal against Hradec Králové in the dying minutes of the game to seal a big win for his club. He often played in the center or right hand side of a three man defense, showcasing his versatility and his ability to deliver consistent performances despite adversity.

Speaking after the move was made official, Tomas Rosicky, the sporting director of Sparta Prague admitted it was tough to sign the Nigerian due to interest from other club: “There was a great interest in his services from other clubs but he chose us because he sees the best space for his further development in our environment,” he revealed.

Uchenna himself confirmed that the decision to move to Sparta was an easy one for him as he expressed admiration for their playing style: “When the agent told me about Sparta’s interest, I didn’t hesitate. It was an easy decision because of course I like the way Sparta play,” the Nigerian affirmed. “Time to make history with this lovely club,” he added on his official Twitter account.
