Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi scored two goals as Viktoria Plzen thrashed Ferencvaros 3-0 at the Doosan Aréna, advancing to the Europa League round of 16.
Viktoria Plzen faced a daunting task, needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg. In contrast, Ferencvaros only required a draw to progress after their impressive performance at their home ground.
Motivated by the home crowd, the Czech Republican side took the lead in the 27th minute when Rafiu Durosinmi netted to level the aggregate scoreline. Shortly after, Pavel Sulc scored a precise left-footed shot, giving Viktoria Plzen the lead on the night and in the tie.
Viktoria Plzen’s momentum continued as Rafiu Durosinmi scored his second goal just four minutes later, increasing their advantage and sending the home crowd into jubilation.

Despite Ferencvaros’ second-half dominance in possession, Viktoria Plzen’s resolute defense prevented them from scoring. Durosinmi was substituted in the 57th minute after an outstanding performance, coming off for Prince Adu, who alongside the rest of his teammates worked extremely hard to secure qualification to the next round.
The 3-0 victory on the night and 3-1 aggregate win secured Viktoria Plzen’s spot in the Europa League round of 16 where they will face either Italian side, Lazio or Spanish side, Athletic Bilbao.
Viktoria Plzen’s win is not the only positive takeaway, as Rafiu Durosinmi’s outstanding performance is also worthy of note. Having scored a brace in his previous match against Teplice, Durosinmi’s impressive form is a remarkable testament to his strength and perseverance, particularly after overcoming a lengthy injury layoff of over a year.
