David Okereke delivered a standout performance in Gaziantep’s comfortable victory over 10-man Antalyaspor in their final Turkish Super Lig match of 2024. His performance could see Gaziantep activate the option to buy clause in his contract.

The Nigerian forward played 76 minutes and provided a crucial assist for Kacper Kozlowski’s opener in the 42nd minute. Alexandru Maxim added a second goal in the 66th minute, sealing the win and ensuring Gaziantep ended the year on a high note.

Since joining Gaziantep on loan from Italian Serie B side Cremonese, Okereke has enjoyed a resurgence in form. In 11 league appearances, he has contributed to six goals, scoring four and assisting two. This marks a significant improvement compared to last season, where he managed just four goal contributions in 28 games across all competitions.

David Okereke's form could push Gaziantep to activate buy option clause

Okereke’s impressive performances has increased the likelihood of Gaziantep activating the option-to-buy clause in his loan deal.

The 27-year-old’s contract with Cremonese runs until June 2026, but the Italian club may look to cash in on him while his value and stock is on the rise.
