President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) Uyi Akpata, has voiced his optimism about the potential of the Junior Female Yellow Greens, expressing belief in their capabilities.
The Junior Female Yellow Greens are currently flying the Nigerian flag at the ongoing ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia, a tournament scheduled to run from January 18 to February 2, 2025.
The team garnered their first points in unusual style, as their match against Samoa at the Borneo Cricket Ground in Sarawak was called off due to a wet outfield, awarding them points without having to take the field.
Having secured their first points, the Junior Female Yellow Greens are now focusing on their next challenges, gearing up to face New Zealand on January 20, followed by a clash with South Africa on January 22.
As the team prepares for their crucial match against New Zealand, Nigeria Cricket Federation President Uyi Akpata shared their objectives for the tournament, emphasizing the significance of fan support.
“We are here to announce ourselves to the world and make Nigeria proud. The girls know what is expected and the support from everyone back home will see us go far. I am confident in our abilities,” he declared optimistically.
The highly anticipated match between the Junior Female Yellow Greens and New Zealand will be held at the Borneo Cricket Ground in Sarawak, with live coverage available on the ICC Cricket official website and ICC TV.
