Marcus Rashford is reportedly at the centre of a potential swap deal that could see him leave Manchester United for Napoli, with Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen heading in the opposite direction.

According to SunSport, sources indicate that Napoli manager Antonio Conte is keen on signing Rashford, who has fallen out of favour at United under current boss Ruben Amorim. The England international has not featured in United’s last five matches, with Amorim dropping him due to concerns over his standards.

Rashford’s situation at Old Trafford has fueled speculation about a move, and despite rejecting three mega-money offers from Saudi Arabia — where he could earn up to £675,000 per week — the forward appears focused on reviving his career in Europe.

Conte’s interest could provide United with a golden opportunity to finally land Osimhen, a player they have admired for several transfer windows. The 26-year-old Nigerian, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray after falling out with Conte, has a £62 million release clause.

United’s need for reinforcements is urgent, with Amorim’s side struggling in the Premier League. They are currently 14th on the log and battling to steer clear of the relegation zone after three consecutive league defeats. Amorim is under increasing pressure to find solutions, particularly in attack, where the team is short on goals.

Osimhen, who has scored 65 goals in 108 Serie A appearances for Napoli since joining from Lille in 2020 and 12 goals in 15 games since joining Galatasaray on loan in the summer, would be a major boost for United. His physical presence and eye for goal could solve the Red Devils’ scoring woes, and a deal involving Rashford might just be the key to making it happen.

For Rashford, a move to Napoli would offer a fresh start. The 27-year-old is reportedly eager to catch the eye of new England manager Thomas Tuchel, having not featured for the Three Lions since March. Despite his struggles at club level, Rashford remains an important player for United, and losing him would be a big decision.

However, with financial regulations looming over the club, United may be forced to cash in on their academy product. Selling Rashford would help the club comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules, while also freeing up funds for Amorim to reshape the squad.

Napoli, currently second in Serie A, could be an attractive destination for Rashford. Former United players Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay are already part of Conte’s squad, and the prospect of adding Rashford could further strengthen their title bid.
