Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze suffered a suspected thigh strain in AC Milan’s 1-1 draw against AS Roma at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Serie A on Sunday.

The Rossoneri started strong and opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Tijjani Reijnders swept a first-time shot into the top corner after a brilliant team move involving Youssouf Fofana and Alvaro Morata. Moments later, Morata missed an opportunity to double Milan’s lead, firing wide from an Alex Jimenez assist.

Roma leveled the game in the 36th minute through Paulo Dybala, who produced a moment of brilliance with a volley off a deft flick by Artem Dovbyk. The Argentine’s strike left Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan helpless.

In the second half, Milan introduced Ismael Bennacer, marking his return from a long-term calf injury. The midfielder’s curling shot forced a save from Roma’s goalkeeper Mile Svilar. Chukwueze also tested Svilar with a powerful effort before pulling up clutching his thigh and signaling for a substitution. He had to be carried off the field, with early indications suggesting he could miss at least a month of action, including the Supercoppa Italiana clash against Juventus on January 3 in Riyadh.

Despite late chances for both teams, including a fingertip save by Maignan to deny Eldor Shomurodov, the match ended in a frustrating draw for both sides, leaving Milan and Roma trailing in their pursuit of Serie A’s top spots.

Chukwueze’s injury adds to Milan’s growing list of absentees, which already includes Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, further complicating manager Paulo Fonseca’s plans for the season.
