Head coach Éric Chelle and first assistant Hedi Taboubi visited Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi and Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi alongside other Super Eagles players ahead of the crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March.
The Super Eagles face a critical test, traveling to Rwanda before hosting Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo as they desperately seek vital wins to climb to the top of Group C in the World Cup qualifiers.
After an underwhelming start, The Super Eagles are currently languishing in sixth place with just 3 points from 4 games, four points behind Rwanda, South Africa and Benin who are first, second and third respectively.
Eric Chelle’s visit is thus a strategic move to personally connect with the players, boost their morale, and inspire them to rise to the challenge of the upcoming crucial World Cup qualifiers.
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is in scintillating form, boasting seven goals and three assists in the league for Fulham. His form and experience would be crucial to Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes especially considering that he scored for Nigeria in a 1–0 win over Zambia to secure the Super Eagles a spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Wilfred Ndidi’s fitness is also a top priority for Eric Chelle, as the midfield maestro’s presence could significantly elevate the Super Eagles’ performance. The Leicester City midfielder has also improved his game going forward with 12 goal contributions last season, and five this season.

Eric Chelle also paid a visit to Moses Simon who plies his trade with Nantes in France. Not only is he one of the most experienced wingers for the Super Eagles, Simon’s creativity has been a shining light in an underwhelming Nantes team, with six league assists making him the second-highest provider in Ligue 1.

Eric Chelle will continue to visit other Super Eagles players as he aims to foster a cohesive and motivated Super Eagles squad, united in their determination to represent and fight for Nigeria.
