Nigeria and Genk striker, Toluwalase Arokodare continued his impressive form in front of goal as he netted twice for the league leaders in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Royal Antwerp on Thursday.

The game got off to a fast start as Gyrano Kerk scored to give the hosts the lead in the 9th minute. However, Arokodare quickly equalized for Genk just three minutes after the opening goal to level the score line.

Kerk then scored again to regain the lead for the home team as he received a well-timed pass from Tjaronn Chery before cutting back and placing the ball beyond the reach of Van Crombrugge.

Five minutes after half-time, 19-year-old Genk prodigy, Noah Adedeji-Sternberg reacted quickly to intercept a loose touch and feed a perfect cross to Arokodare who fired a first-time shot into the back of the net to level the score line for the second time in the game.

Although both teams pushed for a winner to steal all three points, none of the sides were able to take advantage of the other as the game eventually ended as a draw.

With the draw, Genk remain on top of the Belgian Pro League table with 42 points in 20 league matches. They will have a 2 week break before facing off next against St.Truiden in the cup as they seek to qualify for the semifinals while Royal Antwerp will also host Union St.Gilloise in the same tournament.

The break will give Arokodare a chance to relax and refresh as he gears up for a pivotal second half of the season. With 13 goals and four assists, the Nigerian striker is now the highest goal scorer in the league, however, he will be hoping to significantly increase his tally in the upcoming year.
