Applebee FC and Primal Sporting will face off in the inaugural final of the Lagos Liga 2024, vying for the coveted N50 million prize. Both teams secured their spots in the championship match by defeating celebrity-backed sides Tacha FC and 30BG SC in the semifinals at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Applebee FC were the first to reach the final, convincingly defeating Tacha FC, owned by former Big Brother Naija housemate Tacha 3-0. After a relatively uneventful first half, David Onuche broke the deadlock in the 26th minute.

This momentum quickly translated into a second goal for Applebee, with Favour Anieke finding the net a few minutes later following a well-executed team play. Afolabi Samad sealed the victory with a well-placed shot, extending Applebee’s lead to 3-0.

Tacha FC attempted to salvage a consolation goal in the closing moments, but their effort was thwarted by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), who correctly ruled the goal out for handball.

In the second semifinal, Primal Sporting emerged victorious over 30BG SC, owned by musician Davido, with a 3-0 scoreline.

Despite 30BG’s early offensive pressure, Gulani Abdulmalik gave Primal the lead. They solidified their advantage in the second half with goals from Jonah Apollos and Aliyu Tafida, who benefited from a rebound.

Both goalkeepers played crucial roles in the match. Sunday Stephen of Primal Sporting made several crucial saves to maintain his team’s lead, while 30BG’s goalkeeper Opeyemi Joseph also deserves credit for preventing a larger margin of defeat.

The final promises to be an exciting clash between two teams that have demonstrated exceptional form and resilience throughout the competition.
