Nigerian international Akor Adams made his highly anticipated debut for Sevilla, coming off the bench in their 0-0 draw against Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum on Saturday.
Getafe entered the match riding a five-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, including a 1-1 draw against Barcelona and a 3-0 away win over Real Sociedad. In contrast, Sevilla sought to reverse their fortunes after securing only one win in their previous five games.
Sevilla’s head coach, Garcia Pimienta, opted to start Isaac Romero as the striker, leaving Akor Adams to begin the match on the bench as he sought to ease the Nigerian International into the team.

Sevilla dictated the tempo of the first half, enjoying a significant advantage in possession, but ultimately struggled to capitalize on their dominance by creating clear-cut scoring opportunities. Despite their control, Sevilla’s attacking efforts were limited, with only one shot on target throughout the entire first half.
The dynamics of the match shifted in the second half as Getafe began to gain momentum, asserting themselves more effectively and gaining a foothold in the game. However, despite the increased intensity, neither team was able to create meaningful chances, with both sides failing to register a shot on target in the second half.
In a bid to break the deadlock, Garcia Pimienta made a couple of substitutions, first introducing Chidera Ejuke in the 76th minute, followed by the debutant Akor Adams just five minutes later.
Unfortunately, the changes came too late to have a significant impact on the game, and the match ultimately ended in a goalless stalemate, with neither team able to find the back of the net.
The draw meant that Getafe increased their unbeaten run to six matches, remaining 14th on the table with 24 points in 22 matches. Sevilla meanwhile climbed up to 11th on the table with 28 points in the same number of matches.
Looking ahead, Sevilla will face a daunting task as they host Barcelona at home on Sunday, February 9. Meanwhile, Getafe will embark on a tough away trip to face Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, February 4 aiming to build on their current momentum.
