The news of Lookman’s return will come as a relief to newly appointed Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle who will be needing every player in his Arsenal to execute his first set of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Rwanda and Zimbabwe next month.

Lookman has been one of Atalanta’s top assets this season. He has scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 27 games across all competitions this season.

He has also been an integral part of the Super Eagles clocking 90 minutes in his last six appearances for the nation. He was not listed for the Eagles in their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game against Rwanda where they lost 2-1.
