With six teams in each of the nine groups, only the group winners are guaranteed direct qualification to the expanded FIFA World Cup finals in 2026.

The four best second-placed teams across the nine groups will then engage in a mini-tournament, with the ultimate winner earning a playoff spot for another chance to secure a spot in the USA/Canada/Mexico finals.

Each team will play two out of their ten matches during the FIFA window in November this year, with the remaining eight games scheduled between 2024 and 2025.
