In a thrilling Southwest derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, title contenders Remo Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by in-form Ikorodu City in a Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 17 encounter.
Shuaibu Ibrahim gave Remo Stars an early lead in the 8th minute, but all efforts by the hosts to restore parity in the first half were unsuccessful as they were unable to beat goalkeeper Serge Obassa who pulled off several saves.

Ikorodu City finally equalized in the 90th minute through Chineme Chininso. Both teams pushed for a late winner in the added 10 minutes of play but were unable to find the decisive goal.
Remo Stars were further hampered when Ahmed Akinyele was shown a second yellow card in the second half, leaving them a man down.
This result saw Remo Stars relinquish the top spot on the table to Rivers United, who secured a 2-1 victory over Kwara United. Rivers United now holds a two-point lead in the title race.

Ikorodu City, who entered the matchday in 4th place, dropped to 6th after failing to win in their last two games. This marks a significant change in their recent form, having previously enjoyed a seven-game unbeaten streak.
Both teams will be eager to bounce back from this disappointing draw in their upcoming fixtures. Remo Stars will host Bayelsa United in Ikenne, while Ikorodu City will travel to face Abia Warriors.
