Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso, has confirmed that Victor Boniface is in discussions with Al Nassr, although no official deal has been finalized.

Alonso revealed that the team is preparing for their upcoming Champions League clash against Sparta Prague without Boniface, suggesting that his departure may be imminent. However, the striker’s future is still uncertain and depends on the progress of further negotiations.

In his words, “There is this situation and I understand that. There are discussions with the club. We have to wait. We’re preparing for the game without Boni (Boniface) of course.”

Negotiations between Victor Boniface and Al Nassr have gained significant momentum in recent hours, with a Saudi delegation arriving in Germany on Monday to finalize the deal. Boniface is also reportedly receptive to joining Al Nassr, indicating a potential breakthrough in transfer talks.

Despite the progress, discussions between the clubs are still ongoing, and Bayer Leverkusen is expected to demand a substantial transfer fee of around €50 million to release Boniface during the January transfer window.

Bayer Leverkusen will be cautious to ensure that the ongoing transfer discussions surrounding Victor Boniface do not distract the team, especially with a crucial Champions League match against Sparta Prague looming, where a win is necessary to secure automatic qualification to the round of 16.

Victor Boniface has played a crucial role for Bayer Leverkusen this season, contributing significantly despite being hampered by injuries, with an impressive tally of eight goals and one assist in 15 matches across all competitions.
