Ademola Lookman delivered a match-winning performance on Friday evening, scoring the decisive goal in Atalanta’s 2-1 victory over AC Milan in a tightly contested Serie A encounter.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the game, the Super Eagles forward reflected on the significance of the win against one of Italy’s strongest teams.

“It’s a very important game against a very strong team that is doing well in the league,” Lookman said. “We performed well tonight, three big points, and we continue like this.”

Lookman’s 62nd-minute goal not only secured victory for Atalanta but also underlined his growing importance to the team. The Nigeria international was named Man of the Match for his exceptional display, which included his relentless pressing and precise finishing.

The 26-year-old stated the team’s unity and belief as the key to their success.

“I think we just continue to play the way we play, match by match. We believe in ourselves as a team, so we continue like this and stay together,” he added.

Lookman’s great form this season has also earned him a nomination for the African Player of the Year award. Asked about the accolade, he expressed his pride at being recognised among the continent’s best players.

“It’s an honour to be nominated for this prestigious award. Of course, anyone who is nominated would like to win it. It’s a dream!”

The victory sees Atalanta move to the top of the Serie A standings, two points ahead of second-placed Inter Milan who have played a game less.
