Nigeria’s Junior Female Yellow Greens Coach, Sarah Bakhita, issued a bold statement following their landmark victory over New Zealand, declaring that her team is prepared to fight victory.

The Junior Female Yellow Greens achieved a groundbreaking milestone on Monday, claiming their inaugural victory in the ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup by overcoming New Zealand at the Borneo Cricket Ground.

However, the team will have no time to celebrate for long as their focus swiftly shifts to a pivotal showdown with another cricket giant, South Africa, scheduled for January 22.

Ahead of their match, Coach Sarah Bakhita praised South Africa for being one of the best while cautioning that her team will not underestimate themselves and is determined to emerge victorious.

”We have to go to the drawing board because there are somethings we can do better. We have to get ready because South Africa is an experienced team. We do not underestimate any team but we do not underestimate ourselves,” Bakhita declared.

”We know we are well capable but it is important to step up and go harder. South Africa is big but we know what we can do. We are fighters so we know we will give them a tough match,” she added confidently.

Despite the need to move on quickly in anticipation of the South Africa clash, Bakhita was ecstatic after the team’s win, describing it as an “unbelievable moment.”

”The win was unbelievable, it felt so good. We know that the girls had it in them but it was a big win. We analysed some of the strengths of the opponents and the girls played to the plan,” she said.
