Kyle Walker’s potential move to Saudi Arabia in the January transfer window could pave the way for Manchester City to target Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest right-back Ola Aina.
Recent reports from England suggest that Aina has caught the attention of the Premier League champions, who view him as a suitable replacement for Walker. While City initially considered pursuing the Nigerian international after his contract expires in June, this could be expedited if Walker leaves the club for oil-rich Saudi Arabia in January.
According to The Sun, Walker has drawn interest from Al-Ahli and could also link up with global superstar Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. Discussions are believed to be ongoing with the 34-year-old, who still has 18 months remaining on his contract at the Etihad. However, it is believed that the deal will see him leave in the summer.
In response to the growing interest in Aina, Nottingham Forest reportedly engaged with the player’s representatives on Thursday to negotiate a contract extension. Aina’s current deal expires in June, potentially making him a free agent.
Aina has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, contributing significantly to Forest’s strong results. He has featured in all 19 league games, scoring twice and helping the team secure eight clean sheets.
The former Chelsea academy graduate has also gained valuable international experience with Torino in Italy and has had loan stints with Fulham and Hull City, showcasing his versatility and quality in top-flight football.
