Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed in a post-match press conference, following the team’s 8-0 FA Cup win over Salford, that Kyle Walker has informed him of his desire to leave the club.

In his words: “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad and end his career,” Pep Guardiola disclosed.

This season, Kyle Walker has seen his playing time significantly decrease, starting only nine Premier League matches and one Champions League match, frequently being replaced by 20-year-old Rico Lewis in the starting lineup.

Coincidentally, according to GiveMeSport, Guardiola and top officials at the Etihad Stadium have discussed signing Ola Aina to address their defensive needs.

The reports indicate that City view Aina as a suitable replacement for Walker due to his versatility, capable of playing as both a right-back and left-back. With Walker approaching the latter stages of his career at 34, City is eager to secure a younger, dynamic option for the future.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly aware of Manchester City’s interest and have attempted to negotiate a contract extension with Aina, whose current deal expires in June. However, if they make a concrete offer, it may be challenging for Aina to resist the opportunity to join a top club like Manchester City.

Despite Manchester City’s interest, Nottingham Forest will be hesitant to let Ola Aina go mid-season, especially as they aim to secure European qualification.
