From the outset, Bremen applied pressure on the Leverkusen defense, with Marvin Ducksch testing goalkeeper Lukáš Hrádecký in the opening minute. Ducksch continued to threaten, and in the 14th minute, he nearly lobbed Hrádecký with a shot after a long ball from Mitchell Weiser, but the attempt fell short.

Leverkusen, however, struck first against the run of play in the 30th minute. Boniface showcased his predatory instincts, reacting swiftly to a clever pass from Florian Wirtz. He connected with a pinpoint cross from Jeremie Frimpong, putting Leverkusen ahead with his goal—a testament to his growing impact in the league.

The second half began with heightened intensity. In the 50th minute, Weiser received a yellow card for a rash challenge on Alejandro Grimaldo, as Bremen pressed hard for an equalizer. The home side’s efforts were finally rewarded in the 74th minute when Ducksch scored with a well-placed header, capitalizing on Julián Malatini’s cross and sending the Weser-Stadion into a frenzy.

However, Leverkusen quickly regained the lead just three minutes later with an unfortunate own goal from Felix Agu, putting the visitors back in front. As the match drew to a close, the drama intensified. In the 84th minute, Wirtz came agonizingly close to sealing the win for Leverkusen, striking the post with his shot.

But it was Bremen who had the last laugh. In the 90th minute, Romano Schmid unleashed a powerful right-footed shot from the edge of the area, beating Hrádecký and securing a dramatic equalizer for the home side.
