Nigeria’s Super Falcons will face Benin Republic in the final round of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers as the West African side defeated Sierra Leone 5-2 over two legs in the first round.
The Super Falcons received a bye in the first round of the qualifiers but will now face Benin Republic in a crucial double-legged tie scheduled for October 2025 in order to secure their spot in the continental tournament holding in Morocco.
Reacting to the fixture, former Super Falcons assistant coach, Mansur Abdullahi, has expressed his confidence that Nigeria will advance to the tournament, trusting the current technical crew’s ability to guide the Super Falcons to victory.
“The question we look at is who are Benin Republic to Nigeria? It’s going to be like a local derby, I am not the coach, but I have so much confidence in the technical ability of the Super Falcons’ technical crew,” Abdullahi said confidently in a chat with Brila.Net

“Benin Republic will never have any hidden place to hide. Surely, Nigeria will qualify for the WAFCON,” the former assistant coach added.
The Super Falcons, proudly boasting nine WAFCON titles, are now firmly focused on securing their spot in the tournament once again. As they prepare to face off against Benin Republic, the Nigerian team will be driven to continue their reign as continental powerhouses.
With their sights set on the qualifiers, the Super Falcons are determined to assert their dominance and make a strong statement that they are ready to compete for their tenth WAFCON title.
