Nigeria’s Super Eagles B have resumed training at the Remo Stars Sports Institute, Ikenne-Remo, ahead of the African Nations Championship kicking off on Saturday, February 1.
The continental tournament will be hosted in Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya and the Super Eagles B will discover their group stage opponents during the draw on Wednesday, January 15.
Football journalist MikeThePundit revealed that 20 Players have arrived at the camp, focused on early preparations and determined to make a mark in the forthcoming continental tournament.
The rest of the team will be expected to join the others as soon as possible. Absentees including Imo Obot, Victor Collins, Henry Ozoemena, and Anas Yusuf were all involved as Enyimba defeated Nasarawa United to secure their first NPFL win in over two months. Meanwhile, Ismail Sadiq and Sunday Megwo are the other two players who are yet to join the team.
Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Illechukwu were in charge of proceedings, however, it is expected that newly appointed Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle will join the team once he is in the country.
The 8th African Nations Championship will feature 18 countries, viz joint-hosts Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, Nigeria, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Niger Republic, Congo, Sudan, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Angola and Madagascar.
