Super Eagles B defeat Remo Stars 2-1 in friendly game

The Super Eagles B side continued their preparations ahead of the CHAN qualifiers with a 2-1 win against NPFL side, Remo stars at the Remo Sports Facility on Wednesday.

Henry Ozoemena started in goal for the Super Eagles B while in defense Ismail Sodiq started against his club side alongside Junior Nduka, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, and Imo Obot. In midfield, Jide Fatokun was deployed with Musa Zayaad while in attack, Saviour Isaac started with Sikiru Alimi and Anas Yusuf led the team from the front.

The Super Eagles B side got off to a fast start as Sikiru Alimi assisted Isaac Saviour to score the first goal of the match just two minutes after kick-off. The team doubled their lead in the 75th minute courtesy of Samuel Ayanrinde’s goal assisted by experienced midfielder, Rabiu Ali.

Remo Stars pulled one back as Victory Iboro scored to set up an interesting finish to the game. However, the Super Eagles B side showed their resolute mentality to defend their lead and get the win.

The friendly victory is their sixth win in six matches since resuming camp at Ikenne. Fans will hope the team can take this winning mentality into the CHAN qualifiers where they hope to avoid heartbreak from Ghana for the second year in a row.

The Super Eagles B will continue their preparation in anticipation of their visit to the 40,000 capacity Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 22nd December, before hosting the Black Galaxies at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on Saturday, 28th December.
