VfB Stuttgart is reportedly turning its attention away from Nigerian striker Gift Orban of Olympique Lyon. The Bundesliga club is now exploring more affordable options, such as Tim Lemperle from FC Köln and Ibrahim Maza from Hertha BSC, according to reports.
While Stuttgart had shown interest in Orban, Lyon’s financial troubles and Orban’s recent form have made the deal less appealing. The French club, facing a potential relegation and transfer ban, is keen to sell Orban to generate funds, but his valuation of €15 million is considered too high.
In contrast, Lemperle and Maza offer more cost-effective solutions. Lemperle, currently in Bundesliga 2, has impressed with eight goals and four assists in 16 games and could be acquired for around €3 million.
Maza, an attacking midfielder, has also shown promise with five goals and four assists, and his potential price tag is estimated at €8 million.
Orban, who joined Lyon in January, has struggled to live up to expectations. His recent poor form, including being dropped from the Europa League squad, has further dampened Stuttgart’s interest.
As Stuttgart aims to strengthen its squad for a potential European push, the club is prioritizing players who can immediately contribute and fit seamlessly into the team’s structure.
