Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu’s assist proved insufficient as Southampton’s woes continued with a 3-1 loss to Bournemouth, marking their seventh consecutive EPL home defeat.

Southampton’s defensive frailties were exposed, whereas Bournemouth delivered an impressive display, underscoring their ambitions to compete in Europe for the first time in their club’s history.

Buoyed by their impressive form in recent weeks, Bournemouth made a blistering start, with Dango Outtara scoring in the 14th minute, followed by Ryan Christie’s goal two minutes later, establishing a comfortable lead by halftime.

Determined to secure a result, Southampton briefly rallied in the second half, with Kamaldeen Sulemana scoring a well-crafted goal, courtesy of Joe Aribo’s tenacity to win the ball back and Paul Onuachu’s pinpoint assist to find the goal scorer.

However, Southampton’s resurgence was short-lived, as Bournemouth capitalized on their inability to level the scoreline, sealing the win with Marcus Tavernier’s 83rd-minute strike.

The victory propelled Bournemouth to fifth place in the Premier League standings, bolstering their European ambitions, while Southampton remain at the bottom with nine points from 25 points.

Southampton’s next challenge comes in the form of Brighton, who have recently found their footing, while Bournemouth hosts Wolves, seeking to extend their impressive run of form.
