Paris FC Goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie and Paris Saint Germain Midfielder, Jennifer Echegini were both in action as their teams battled to a 1-1 draw in a derby that lived up to its billing in the Division 1 Feminine on Saturday.

Nnadozie had faced Nigerian counterpart, Ifeoma Onumonu earlier in November and while Paris FC won in a convincing 4-2 victory, the Super Falcons attacker stole the hearts of many by scoring two goals against the Nigerian Goalkeeper.

Due to Onumonu’s feat, Echegini was hopeful that she could repeat the same achievement and lead her team to victory, avenging the 4-0 loss they suffered to Paris FC during the pre-season.

However, Nnadozie was motivated to stop the promising attacker, boasting that Echegini was not going to score regardless of the result: “It is always a big game between Paris FC and PSG, we are going to do our thing, but even if they win, Echegini will not score!” she asserted in an interview with OJBsportstv.

While both Super Falcons stars were involved from the start, it was Marie-Antoinette Katoto that stole the spotlight with a strike that seemed like the winning goal until Clara Mateo dramatically equalized in the dying minutes to break the hearts of the away team.

With the draw, both teams are now unbeaten in four consecutive league games, however, it is Paris Saint Germain that sit second with 25 points in 10 games, 3 points below league leaders, Lyon. Paris FC sit 3rd with 21 points in the same amount of games.

While Nnadozie fulfilled her promise by stopping Echegini, the attacker will be motivated with more minutes under her belt and a good performance that should guarantee her more starts in the upcoming games.
