Shukurat Oladipo signs for Roma Women from Robo Queens

Italian side AS Roma Women have announced the acquisition of highly talented defender Shukurat Oladipo, who joins the team from Nigerian Women Football League outfit Robo Queens.

The 20-year-old has officially committed her future to AS Roma, inking a deal that will see her don the Italian club’s colors until June 30, 2027, as she embarks on an exciting new chapter in her career.

Shukurat Oladipo makes the move to AS Roma from Nigerian side Robo FC, bringing with her a wealth of experience garnered from 178 appearances for her former club. The defender has also represented Nigeria on the international stage, featuring in the U-20 World Cup and earning two senior caps.

Shukurat Oladipo will hope to follow in the footsteps of illustrious talents from Robo Queens, including the likes of legendary Nigerian forward Asisat Oshoala,, as well as Rasheedat Ajibade, Aminat Yakubu and Folashade Ijamilusi, all of whom graduated from the club’s esteemed academy and youth programs to achieve great success in their careers.

Reacting to the move, Shukurat Oladipo expressed her excitement with signing for Roma: ”I’m very happy, I feel so excited. It’s a very big opportunity for me to join a very big team like AS Roma,” she said.

”Coming to Italy and playing for AS Roma is a very big life-changing experience for me and it will help my career grow as a footballer and as a person. I’m a very hardworking, versatile player, and I’m passionate about the game,” Shukurat added.

”My target is to help the team achieve the objectives they have planned for the season. I also want to improve as a player and build a connection between myself and the coaches, my teammates, the fans, and the entire AS Roma Family,” the defender concluded.

Shukurat Oladipo has immediately started training with the team and she is expected to make her debut on Saturday, February 15 when AS Roma visit Sassuolo for the first leg of the Italian Women’s Cup semifinal.
