Sadiq Umar netted his first Valencia goal as the Spanish side eased into the Copa del Rey quarterfinals with a comfortable 2-0 triumph over Ourense at Estadio O Couto on Tuesday.

Since joining Valencia on loan, Sadiq Umar had been limited to cameo appearances, making his debut against Eldense and also featuring against Sevilla in La Liga, but he was yet to start a game. That changed against Ourense, as Umar earned his first start for Valencia.

Despite dominating the match, Valencia struggled to find the back of the net in the first half, but they persisted, eventually breaking the deadlock in the 50th minute through an own goal by Fran Carmona, which gave them a crucial lead.

Sadiq Umar then sealed the victory, scoring in the 78th minute after receiving a pass from Sergi Canos, skillfully cutting back and firing the ball into the top corner to extend Valencia’s lead.

Valencia’s victory extends their unbeaten streak to three matches, with their only loss under new head coach Carlos Corberan coming against Real Madrid.

Valencia will shift their focus to the La liga as they clash with Real Sociedad, aiming to extend their unbeaten run and ascend the league standings. Following his goal, Sadiq Umar will be eager to retain his starting spot against his former side.
