KRC Genk is determined not to repeat the mistake they made with Paul Onuachu. The club has shut down any talk of a winter transfer for their in-form striker, Tolu Arokodare, Bold SportsNG reports.
Arokodare has been on fire this season, leading Genk’s charge for the domestic league title. The Nigerian forward has an impressive record of 11 goals and 5 assists in just 19 league appearances.
Despite interest from top European clubs, Genk’s management is adamant that Arokodare is not for sale, regardless of the transfer fee offered, especially during the January window.
Voetbalnieuws.be reports that the club has informed potential suitors that Arokodare will stay until at least the end of the season.
This stance is likely motivated by Genk’s desire to avoid a repeat of the Onuachu situation. After letting the prolific striker leave for Southampton in the Premier League, Genk struggled to replace his goalscoring contributions and ultimately lost the league title.
Arokodare is currently in the running for the Jupiler League Golden Boot, sitting just one goal behind Anderlecht’s Kasper Dolberg. Genk will be hoping to hold onto their star striker and secure the league championship this season.
