Victor Osimhen is expected to be sidelined for some time after sustaining a hamstring injury during Galatasaray’s 3-2 win over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

The Nigeria international, who found the net in the match, was forced off in the 74th minute and replaced by Michy Batshuayi.

The goal was Osimhen’s 10th in the league after joining Galatasaray on transfer day deadline on loan from Italian Serie A side Napoli.

Galatasaray confirmed Osimhen’s injury through an official statement posted on their website, satiting that treatment had commenced for the 25-year-old.

“Galatasaray today provided the following update regarding the medical conditions of Victor Osimhen and Barış Alper Yılmaz who both sustained injuries in the game against Sivasspor.

“Victor Osimhen underwent an MRI examination which revealed a moderate strain and bleeding in the right posterior upper muscle group. Treatment for our player has been initiated,” the club said.

While no official recovery timeline was provided, reports suggest Osimhen could miss action until late December.

According to TransferMarkt however, the Super Eagles star is expected to be back by December 23. This means he might have played his last game for the year for the Turkish giants who round up the year at Kayserispor on December 22.

The club also confirmed an injury to Barış Alper Yılmaz, who suffered multiple ligament strains and bleeding following a rough challenge in the same match.

“Barış Alper Yılmaz sustained an injury due to a harsh challenge by an opposing player. MRI and CT scans performed revealed a stretching in the medial collateral ligament of his left knee, a moderate strain and bleeding in the deltoid ligament (inner ankle ligament) of his left ankle, and edema in the bones of his ankle.
