Four Super Falcons stars—Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, and Michelle Alozie—have been named in CAF’s Women’s Best XI for 2024. However, surprisingly, CAF’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Chiamaka Nnadozie, was not included in the team.
The announcement was made on Monday night during the 2024 CAF Awards ceremony in Marrakesh, Morocco. Nnadozie’s omission shocked many, especially as she had just been honored with the Goalkeeper of the Year award moments before.
South Africa also had a strong presence in the Best XI, with four players making the list: goalkeeper Andile Dlamini, defender Karabo Dhlamini, midfielder Lebogang Ramalepe, and forward Linda Motlhalo. Other players named in the team included Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak, Zambia’s Barbra Banda, and Malawi’s Tabitha Chawinga.
The CAF Awards recognize and celebrate the best players across the continent for their performances during the calendar year.
