Paul Onuachu has submitted a transfer request from Southampton, expressing his desire to join Turkish club Trabzonspor.
The Nigerian striker, currently in Southampton’s preseason camp, conveyed his wishes to both the club management and manager Russell Martin, according to Turkish media Fanatik.
Sources close to the situation report that Onuachu appears disengaged during training sessions, fueling speculation about his imminent departure.
Trabzonspor have intensified their pursuit of the 2.01-metre-tall forward, reportedly increasing their initial offer of €6m (£5.2m). The Turkish club’s president, Ertugrul Dogan, is personally overseeing negotiations, aiming to finalise the deal before their domestic season begins.
Complicating matters, Southampton’s Turkish affiliate club Goztepe has also expressed interest in Onuachu. A potential player swap is under consideration, with Goztepe reportedly keen on Croatian midfielder Mislav Orsic.
Orsic, who joined Southampton last season for €2.4m (£2.1m), could be included in the deal. However, his involvement hinges on the decision of Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avci.
