Nottingham Forest right-back Ola Aina says he is delighted to see all their hard work in training show on the pitch. The Nigeria international is, however coy on the club’s title challenge saying they’re taking things one at a time.

In-form Aina provided an assist for Forest’s third goal in their 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday – all three goals came in the first half – but the Tricky Trees had to dig dip defensively with the Super Eagles star getting a 95th-minute goalline clearance to hand his side their 13th win of the campaign.

Pundits and fans are beginning to acknowledge Forest as one of the top title contenders after their impressive display in recent games and how they’ve been able to see games out irrespective of the difficulty.

“We are working hard every week. It is showing on the pitch and to be up there with some of the big boys is a credit to us. We will keep going and take every week as it comes,” Aina said after the game.

“Everyone is doing their part to reach our goals. Happy to get an assist for Chris Wood – he keeps scoring that guy.

“It is taking it step-by-step. Being humble and working hard for each other and making sure that we are doing the right things to win football matches.”

Aina has been one of the best right-backs in the Premier League this season. He has become a subject of transfer speculations in the media and has been linked to clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, AS Roma, and Galatasaray.
