NPFL: Enugu Rangers soar to four-point lead, Remo Stars lose

Enugu Rangers crushed Bayelsa United 3-0 at home on Sunday, extending their lead at the top of the Nigeria Premier League table to four commanding points.

Veteran striker Godwin Obaje bagged a brace (41st & 65th minute), while Chiedozie Okorie added another in the 68th minute to seal the win for the “Flying Antelopes.”

Rangers’ closest rivals, Enyimba, also secured a narrow 1-0 victory away against Abia Warriors, thanks to a 72nd-minute strike from Benard Ovoke. However, other title contenders faltered this matchday.

Remo Stars fell 3-2 away from home to Kwara United. Lobi Stars suffered a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Akwa United, while Shooting Stars earned a respectable 2-2 draw away at Katsina United.

Elsewhere, Rivers United thrashed Sporting Lagos 4-1 with a brace from Andy Okpe, alongside goals from captain Nyima Nwagwa and Seiyefa Jackson. Heartland thumped Gombe United 3-0 with a double from Promise Anyawu and a goal from Chukwudi Esobe.

Kano Pillars secured a 3-1 win over Doma United, while Plateau United were held to a scoreless draw at home by Niger Tornadoes while Sunshine Stars were held to a goalless draw at home by Bendel Insurance.
