Kelechi Iheanacho’s agent, Roger Wittmann, has dismissed reports linking the Nigerian forward with a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly, describing the rumours as completely false.

The Sevilla striker has been at the center of transfer speculations as the club looks to offload him during the January transfer window. Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City last summer, has struggled to impress at the Spanish club, making just 11 appearances in La Liga and the Copa del Rey without scoring in the league.

British media outlet Daily Express recently reported that Al Ahly, the reigning African champions, were interested in signing the 27-year-old. However, according to AS, when contacted by Egyptian sports website Btolat, Wittmann denied the claims.

“No one from Egypt has contacted us to talk about the player, so the news that is out there is completely false,” he said.

While a return to the English Premier League or the Championship had been considered a likely move for Iheanacho, no concrete offers have emerged from those leagues. Reports also suggest that clubs in Greece, the North American MLS, and other European sides have shown interest in the Nigerian forward.

Iheanacho, who signed a two-year contract with Sevilla, has scored three goals in the Copa del Rey this season but remains out of favour at the club. The Spanish side is reportedly keen to part ways with him in the ongoing transfer window, preferably through a permanent deal rather than a loan move.
