According to sources, The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have decided to hire a foreign coach in January ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March.
Nigeria currently sits in 5th place in Group C with three points in four matches having drawn three games and lost once.
The Super Eagles will have to finish either first or among the best runners-up to qualify for the global showpiece. However, right now they are four points behind Rwanda and South Africa who sit 1st and 2nd respectively.
Augustin Eguavoen led Nigeria to the AFCON by finishing top of Group D of the qualifiers. However, it is hoped that with the appointment of a foreign coach, the Super Eagles can achieve greater things by avoiding not qualifying for back to back FIFA world cup tournaments.
