NFF dismiss Enyimba’s appeal, uphold Rangers 3-point decision

The Nigeria Football Federation Disciplinary Committee has ruled on Enyimba FC’s appeal, confirming certain sanctions while overturning others.

The appeal was lodged against the Nigeria Premier Football League’s decision to award three points and three goals to Rangers International following a game disruption on June 9, 2024, at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The committee upheld the decision to award the match to Rangers International.
However, it dismissed Enyimba FC’s appeal regarding certain fines imposed by the NPFL disciplinary panel.

“The Nigeria Football Federation Disciplinary Committee has dismissed Enyimba FC’s appeal and upheld Rangers International’s awarded points and goals following the disruption of their league match on June 9, 2024, at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

“The committee upheld the decision to award the match to Rangers, citing Article 13.26 of the NPFL Framework and Rules.

“Regarding Enyimba FC’s appeal against NPFL sanctions, the committee made the following decisions:

  • The one million naira (N1,000,000) fine against Enyimba FC for failure to control their players, officials, and supporters stands.
  • The five million naira (N5,000,000) fine for disrupting live broadcast transmission was overturned due to lack of evidence.
  • The one million naira (N1,000,000) fine for supporters throwing objects onto the field of play was also overturned due to insufficient evidence.
  • The one million naira (N1,000,000) fine against Enyimba FC for refusing to continue the match in protest against a penalty decision stands.
  • The one million naira (N1,000,000) fine for encroachment onto the field of play stands.
  • The two million naira (N2,000,000) fine for disrupting and discontinuing the match stands.
    The committee emphasizes that these decisions are subject to appeal.
