New Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle, who was unveiled in Abuja on Monday, has assured Nigerians that his team will prioritise attacking football, as he believes scoring goals is the essence of the game.

Speaking at his unveiling ceremony at the MKO Abiola National Stadium on Monday, Chelle expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the opportunity to lead one of Africa’s most successful national teams. The Franco-Malian tactician emphasised his philosophy of favouring an aggressive, forward-thinking approach on the pitch.

“Football is about scoring goals, so I favour an attacking style,” Chelle said. “I know the expectations of Nigerians, and I will settle down to work diligently with my assistants toward the goal of qualifying the Super Eagles for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.”

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, praised Chelle’s confidence and assured him of full support to achieve success with the Super Eagles.

“I see in the new Head Coach the right spirit and the right attitude, and I have faith that he will take the Super Eagles to the next level. He sees this job as his dream job, and that is a huge motivation in itself,” Gusau said.

Chelle, who signed a two-year contract with an option for another year if he qualifies Nigeria for the World Cup, said he is ready to embrace the challenge ahead and deliver results through an exciting brand of football.
