NBA: Hawks’ Onyeka Okongwu to miss 4 games

Atlanta Hawks center Onyeka Okongwu will be sidelined for the next four games due to left knee inflammation, as reported by Bold SportsNG.

Okogwul who is eligible to represent the D’Tigers, is expected to miss games against the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Chicago Bulls. His status will be re-evaluated in approximately one week.

Okongwu, the backup to Clint Capela, is enjoying his best season since entering the NBA. He’s averaging 11.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game.

The Hawks are also dealing with other injury concerns. Guard Kobe Bufkin is out with a right shoulder injury, and All-Star guard Trae Young is questionable for the San Antonio game due to right Achilles tendinitis.

The 24-year-old was a first-round sixth-overall pick by the Hawks during the 2020 NBA draft. He signed a four-year $62 million contract extension with the franchise in 2023.
