Nasarawa United have announced the mutual termination of head coach Kabir Dogo’s contract, replacing him with Salisu Yusuf, after a thorough review of the team’s performance in the ongoing 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League Season.
The club currently sit 19th on the table after their recent home draw against Ikorodu City. They have racked up 23 points in 24 matches, five points away from Plateau United who are 16th.
Despite signing eight new players in January, the team have not looked like improving as they have won only two games in their last eight league matches, scoring six goals in those games. Their poor form coupled with the team’s ambition to secure safety and avoid relegation has thus led to the termination of Dogo’s contract.
As confirmed by Eche Amos, the Director of Media of the NPFL side in a club statement released on Sunday, “We wish to announce that we have mutually agreed to part ways with Technical Director, Kabir Dogo, effective immediately. This decision has been made following a thorough review of the Club’s performance in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League Season, where we have fallen short of our expectations.“
“Despite the efforts of the Coaching Staff and players, results have not improved to the level required, and we have taken the difficult decision to make a change. We want to specially thank Coach Kabir Dogo who has taken our Club and members as a family for his commitment and hard work during his time with us. Unfortunately, results have not gone in our favour, and we feel it is in the best interest of the Club to move forward with a new direction.“
”On his part, Coach Kabir Dogo, who was on his second stint with the Solid Miners, has appreciated the Management and other Staff of the Club for the opportunity to have managed the Solid Miners, extending his heartfelt gratitude to the players, supporters and fans alike, while wishing the team all the best in the tasks ahead.”
”Due to the precarious situation of the Club, we have decided to appoint former Chief Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Salisu Yusuf, as the new replacement for the departing Coach Kabir Dogo, to take charge of the team immediately.”

“The Kaduna State-born CAF ‘A’ licenced Coach Salisu Yusuf boasts of an intimidating coaching CV, both at Club and the National Teams of Nigeria, and we hope that his coming will help to turn around the fortunes of our Club in the remaining part of the league campaign.”
“We wish to express our earnest assurances to our teaming supporters and fans that we are committed to improving our performance and competing at the highest level of club football in the country. We appreciate your continued support and understanding during this period of transition.“
