Ligue 1 side Nantes, will be banking on Moses Simon’s influence to clinch a vital win against Brest in the highly anticipated Breton Derby at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Friday.

Nantes are aiming to extend their three-match unbeaten run, following their 2-1 victory over Reims, while Brest will be looking to bounce back from a slump that has seen them lose three of their last five outings.

A victory for Nantes, currently sitting 14th in Ligue 1, only three points above Saint-Etienne in 16th place, would not only secure local bragging rights but also provide a crucial boost in their bid to avoid relegation and remain in the top division.

Nantes are also looking to break a dismal streak against Brest, who have dominated their recent matchups with five wins and one draw in the last five games. The last time Nantes came out on top was in a convincing 4-1 victory back in 2022, with Moses Simon playing a crucial role by scoring the equalizer after Brest netted an early goal.

Moses Simon is having a standout season in Ligue 1, ranking second in assists with six, narrowly trailing Joao Neves’ seven. Additionally, he has scored five league goals, making him Nantes’ second-highest scorer.

Moses Simon’s performance will be pivotal as Nantes seek to achieve consecutive Ligue 1 wins for the first time since August, when they triumphed over Auxerre and Montpellier, with Simon scoring in both of those victories.

On the other hand, a victory for Brest could propel them back into the top seven, while also helping them recover from the disappointing 5-2 home loss to PSG in the league last weekend.
