Super Eagles winger Moses Simon proved crucial for Nantes once again, providing a late assist to help the French side secure a 1-1 draw against Lyon on Sunday.
Both Nantes and Lyon were struggling to find form, with each team on a four-game winless streak. Moses Simon had previously scored to salvage a draw against Saint-Etienne, while Lyon’s last win was a 1-0 victory over Montpellier in their first game of the year.
Lyon got off to a flying start, with Ernest Nuamah scoring his first Ligue 1 goal of the season to give the away side the lead. Despite dominating the game, they were unable to double their lead while Nantes failed to register a shot on target in the first half.
The second half continued in the same vein, with Lyon pushing to seal the win. With victory almost secured, Moses Simon’s trademark cross into the box in the dying minutes was headed home by substitute Mostafa Mohamed, securing a vital point for Nantes.

The assist marked Moses Simon’s sixth in the Ligue 1 this season, moving him into joint second place in the league’s assist chart, behind only PSG’s Joao Neves (7).
The draw takes Nantes’ points tally to 18 in 19 games, keeping them ahead of Rennes and Montpellier in the league table. Next, they face a challenging trip to Reims, where they will rely on Moses Simon’s continued impressive form to secure a much-needed victory.
