Chimezie Metu’s spectacular dunk against Panathinaikos and a subsequent block he received both made the Top 10 Plays of the Month for January in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.

The EuroLeague’s monthly top plays showcase the best action from all 54 games played by the 18 teams competing in Europe’s most elite basketball league.

Chimezie Metu earned two spots on the list. His first appearance highlighted his powerful dunk over three Panathinaikos players after driving from beyond the arc. This play was ranked sixth.

The D’Tigers forward’s performance on January 15th contributed to FC Barcelona Bàsquet’s 82-73 victory over the defending EuroLeague champions, where he scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out one assist off the bench.

Other top plays included Tyrique Jones’s alley-oop dunk for Partizan Belgrade against ASVEL Basket (5th) and Luka Šamanić’s dunk in traffic for Baskonia against Real Madrid (4th).

Metu’s second appearance on the list, at number three, was for a less fortunate moment. His dunk attempt was blocked by Monaco’s Georgios Papagiannis, who then followed up with a dunk of his own against Barcelona. Despite the block, Metu had a strong performance, scoring 13 points, securing eight rebounds, and recording three assists, helping his team win 98-84.
