Algerian club MC Oran has terminated its contract with first-team coach Eric Chelle, following his acceptance of the Nigeria national team job, where he will take the reins as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

The announcement of the contract termination was made after Eric Chelle revealed in a press conference that he couldn’t pass up the chance to lead the Super Eagles, describing it as a “once in a lifetime opportunity” that ultimately led to his departure from MC Oran.

The club statement confirming Chelle’s contract termination was posted on MC Oran’s official Instagram account: “The management of MC Oran announces that it has reached a joint agreement with first-team coach Eric Chelle, to terminate the contract between the two parties by compromise.”

”The management of the team also thanks him for all he has given to the team, and wishes him all the best in his career,” the statement read.

Eric Chelle also sent his goodbyes to MC Oran supporters in a post on his Instagram account: “After a nice adventure with MC Oran, I announce today the end of my journey with the club. This decision has not been an easy one to make, but it is in mutual respect and for the good of all parties,” he said.

“I wish you all the best for the future, and I will continue to follow the MCO with affection. Oran and the Mouloudia will always remain in my heart,” Chelle added.
