Fulham manager Marco Silva has commended Super Eagles midfielder Alexander Iwobi for his consistent performances, which have been pivotal to the team’s strong start in the Premier League this season.

Fulham, enjoying one of their best league campaigns in years, secured a dramatic 2-1 away victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, with Iwobi playing a vital role despite not registering a direct goal contribution. Chelsea’s Cole Palmer opened the scoring in the 16th minute, but late strikes from Harry Wilson and Raul Munoz turned the game around for the visitors, securing all three points.

Marco Silva highlighted Iwobi’s versatility and influence during a pre-match press conference ahead of Fulham’s clash with Bournemouth at Craven Cottage on Sunday. “Iwobi has been crucial for us, in all the different positions,” Silva said, praising the Nigerian international for his adaptability and consistency.

Since the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season, the 26-year-old has been deployed as a winger, central midfielder, and attacking midfielder, contributing five goals and three assists in 18 matches. His performances have cemented his status as a key figure in Fulham’s campaign.

Heading into the weekend, Fulham sits eighth on the Premier League table with 28 points, just one point behind sixth-placed Bournemouth. Both teams are eyeing a spot in European football next season, making Sunday’s encounter a crucial fixture in their campaigns.

Fulham will be looking to maintain their momentum and close the year on a high note as they welcome Bournemouth to Craven Cottage.
