Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to monitor Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray, as they consider a January move for the in-form forward.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah via GiveMeSport, United are among several top European clubs, including Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, keeping close tabs on the Napoli loanee. Osimhen has been in scintillating form this season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 12 appearances for the Turkish giants.

Despite his impressive start in the Süper Lig, a long-term stay in Turkey appears unlikely for the 25-year-old. Reports suggest Osimhen is “almost certain” to attract offers from Premier League clubs, with a potential €70m (£58m) deal on the horizon.

Chelsea are also believed to be long-term admirers of the Nigerian international, while Arsenal and Manchester United have stepped up their interest by sending senior scouts to assess the striker.

Although Osimhen’s loan agreement reportedly includes a £62m release clause for January, Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk and President Duran Ozbek insists the forward is focused on finishing the season in Turkey.

Osimhen’s stellar reputation comes from his prolific four-year spell at Napoli, where he netted 76 goals and provided 18 assists in 133 matches.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are in the market for a new striker in January. The Red Devils are also evaluating other options, including Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres, though any move for the Swedish forward is more likely next summer.

United, who are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League, will be looking to bounce back when they face Nottingham Forest this weekend.
