Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman’s incredible year has continued as his market value soared to €55 million, according to data released by renowned football statistics platform, Transfermarkt.

Lookman, who was named African Player of the Year on Monday, saw a €15 million increase from the €40 million valuation recorded in June, continuing an impressive rise since December 2021 when he was valued at €9 million.

Between December last year and now, Lookman’s value has climbed from €30 million to €55 million, a testament to his outstanding performances. The highlight of his year came in May when he led Atalanta to their first Europa League title, scoring a sensational hat-trick in a 3-0 victory over previously unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen.

Lookman once again stood out. The 27-year-old Englishman, who now represents Nigeria, saw his market value improve by 37.5% from €40 million to €55 million.

“Lookman crowned his outstanding 2024 with the African Ballon d’Or on Monday, and rightly so. The 27-year-old has been in top form for months and is the protagonist of Atalanta’s current lead in the table and has also led his club to its first international title in history with the three goals against Leverkusen,” Transfermarkt expert Dietl said.

“Lookman impresses above all with his goal-scoring instinct, his dribbling, his power, and his ability to always be on top form in important games. According to media reports, PSG, Arsenal, and Liverpool were already interested last summer, and it will be very difficult for Atalanta to persuade him to stay next summer.”

Overall, Atalanta’s squad value has improved by €39.5 million to €487 million, with Lookman’s rise marking him as the second biggest winner of the update, behind Reijnders.

The new valuation makes Lookman the second most valuable player in the Super Eagles squad, behind only Victor Osimhen, who is valued at €75 million. Lookman leapfrogged Victor Boniface, who is currently valued at €45 million. He is also Atalanta’s most valuable player, ahead of midfield dynamo Éderson and defender Giorgio Scalvini, who are valued at €50 million and €45 million, respectively.

In the Italian Serie A, Lookman is now the 10th most valuable player, with Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez leading the rankings at €100 million.

The 27-year-old is the most valuable player born in 1997 worldwide and ranks 71st overall among the most valuable players globally.

Lookman is one of only four Super Eagles players to see their market values rise in Transfermarkt’s latest update. Wilfred Ndidi’s valuation increased from €16 million to €18 million, Ola Aina’s rose from €12 million to €14 million, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru climbed from €4.5 million to €6 million.
