Ademola Lookman will aim to notch his 10th goal of the season as in-form Atalanta face struggling AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico later today.

Atalanta have been unbeaten in Serie A since a surprising 3-2 loss to Como in September. In contrast, Roma are in disarray, enduring a three-game losing streak that led to the dismissals of former captain Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Jurić. Claudio Ranieri has since returned to the helm as manager and has been tasked with steadying the ship.

The match presents a tough test for Ranieri, as Atalanta boasts standout performers like Mateo Retegui, the league’s top scorer with 12 goals, and Lookman, who has netted seven times in Serie A this season.

Lookman enters the clash fresh after being rested for Atalanta’s 6-1 demolition of Swiss side Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League last Wednesday. The Nigerian international has nine goals across all competitions (7 in Serie A, and 2 in the Champions League) and has also contributed five assists this season.

The 26-year-old is targeting double figures for goals in all competitions for the third straight season with Atalanta. He recorded 13 goals and eight assists in 33 appearances during his debut campaign and followed up with 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 games in the 2023/24 season.

Having overcome a turbulent start to the current season, including missing Atalanta’s first three games due to a summer transfer saga, Lookman now seeks to surpass his previous contributions with a strong finish to the campaign.
