The Lagos Liga’s second day maintained the high level of drama and excitement witnessed on the opening day, with the final match between Sporting Lagos and Guler FC proving to be the most captivating of all.
Sporting Lagos took an early lead just 60 seconds into the game, thanks to Idris Lawal, who netted the fastest goal of the competition so far. However, Gular FC roared back in spectacular fashion, scoring three goals in a seven-minute blitz.
Chuma Hilary equalized in the 8th minute, Hadji Godwin added another in the 11th minute, and Gambo Aaron extended their lead in the 14th minute. Lateef Owolabi gave Sporting a lifeline with a 3-2 goal before halftime.
The second half was equally intense, with Sporting Lagos pressing hard for an equalizer but failing to convert several opportunities. The match ended 3-2 in regulation time, and in the penalty shootout, Gular FC edged out Sporting Lagos 3-2, joining Applebee FC to secure all four points available on Matchday 2.
Firecrackers FC 0-0 Supremos FC
In the opening game of the day, Firecrackers FC and Supremos FC battled to a goalless draw during regulation time, splitting the points. Firecrackers FC, however, claimed the crucial extra point with a 2-0 win in the penalty shootout.
Applebee FC 3-0 Krypton FC
The second game saw Applebee FC dominate Abuja-based Krypton FC in a clinical performance. David Onuche opened the scoring in the 17th minute, giving Applebee a 1-0 lead at halftime. The team completed a convincing 3-0 victory with second-half goals from Sadiq Folorunso (27th minute) and Raheem Ishola (39th minute).
Applebee FC also triumphed in the penalty shootout, winning 4-3 to claim the maximum four points.
