Alex Iwobi’s 98th-minute strike offered little solace to Fulham, who suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Wolverhampton Wanderers in an English Premier League clash on Saturday.

The goals from full-back Rayan Aït-Nouri in the 52nd minute and an own goal credited to Fulham captain Tom Cairney in the 67th minute proved decisive, despite a late surge from Marco Silva’s side in search of an equalizer.

Iwobi’s 98th-minute strike now holds the record for the latest goal scored in the Premier League this season.

With this goal, Iwobi’s tally in the Premier League reaches five, marking his highest season total in his career thus far. His previous best in the Premier League was during the 2018/19 season, where he scored three goals in 35 league appearances.

That season also stands as his most prolific, netting a total of six goals and providing nine assists across 51 appearances in all competitions. Remarkably, he has already equaled his goal-scoring record this season, bagging six goals in just 25 games across all competitions.

Following his return from the Africa Cup of Nations in February, the Nigerian international has been in fine form, finding the back of the net twice in his last four games, including a crucial winner against Manchester United in late February.
