22-year-old center forward, Ismail Sarki is pushing for an exit away from Enyimba before the end of the mid-season transfer window which closes on the 5th of February, 2025 according to NPFL transfer expert, MikeThePundit.
Since completing his move to “the people’s Elephants” prior to the season, Sarki has been starved of consistent game time with Ifeanyi Ihemekwele usually preferred ahead of the former Bendel Insurance striker.
With the arrival of Brown Ideye, who scored his first goal for the club in a 4-1 win against Black Bulls Maputo, Sarki has fallen down the pecking order even more, and his future at the club has become bleak.
The young striker, who has played only 371 minutes in all competitions this season is however linked to Bayelsa United, one of the clubs interested in securing his services ahead of the second half of the season.
Despite not getting consistent minutes at Enyimba, Sarki’s talent is undoubted. Prior to this season, the 22-year-old had netted 15 NPFL goals in 62 appearances for Niger Tornadoes and Bendel Insurance.
The pacy and energetic forward scored 6 league goals for the Benin Arsenal in the 2022/2023 NPFL season and played a key role in his team’s FA Cup triumph, ending Bendel Insurance’s 45 years wait for a domestic trophy. He was also nominated for the club’s player of the season award alongside top players like Benjamin Tanimu and Amas Obasogie.
He will now be hoping to secure a quality move that can help rejuvenate his promising career. Meanwhile, having defeated Black Bulls Maputo in the CAF confederations cup, Enyimba will be looking to build on their victory when they host Nasarawa United on Wednesday, January 8.
A win will take them up to 7th on the table and they will have the chance to break into the top four if they can secure victory in their other outstanding matches.
